Musicians Claim Sony Stealing iTunes Royalties

Artists are claiming they should get 30 cents per song out of the 70 cents that Sony gets per digital download, instead of the 4.5 cents they currently get. From the digged article linked below:

The case hinges on whether a digital download is comparable to a sale of a CD, as the labels contend, or more on par with a license of a song for use on a movie soundtrack, for example, as the artists claim.

This is painful for me to say, but it sounds to me like Sony is right. There's a first time for everything.

J&R Offering Blue and Gray iPod Nanos

J&R Computers is selling exclusive iPod Nanos in blue and gray, with choices of different color click wheels. The custom 2GB nanos claim that the color coating prevents scratching and are available only from J&R for $265 each.

iPod video content on Blu-ray discs?

ipodhub.net reports that anonymous industry sources have stated that Apple is trying to get the movie industry to include formatted-for-iPod versions of movies included on next-generation Blu-Ray discs. Buy a DVD movie, and automatically get iPod versions of the content as well.

Nice idea, but the MPAA would undoubtedly charge double for them.
