Finally all the rumors are put to rest, and Apple delivers.

Rumormongers predicted a widescreen "true video" iPod. They got it.

The "insiders" said it would have a touch-screen. It does.

Many predicted there would be an Apple "iPhone", but few suggested it would be a full-fledged iPod. It is.

But it goes further, in addition to being the best mp3 player ever made and the slickest phone I've ever seen, the new iPhone also sports Wi-Fi connectivity and a full-fledged Safari web browser, HTML e-mail, a Google-based mapping utility, and Apple-ized versions of the usual phone apps ("Widgets").

As some speculated, this new "iPod" does not have anything like a click-wheel. This is a ballsy, but undoubtedly necessary move on Apple's part.

Also, Apple repeated its unusual step with the "iTV" of announcing a product before its release.

Expect pricing at $499 (4GB) and $599 (8GB). Look forward to a June release.
